You Are Not Forgotten is a story about Alpha Chi Rho Brother William Newlin "Newk" Grubb, Phi Lambda, 1955. Brother Grubb was an Air Force Pilot shot down over North Vietnam in early 1966. He was held as a POW and died in captivity. His wife, Evelyn Grubb, who was a Penn State Alumna, attempted to aquire information about her husband and was instrumental in the development of the POW/MIA flag.
Brother Grubb and Evelyn's relationship began at the Alpha Chi Rho Chapter House at Penn State where they had their first date at a fraternity social. Brother Grubb was a legacy of Alpha Chi Rho, his father and uncle were members of the Fraternity at Penn State as well.
Carol Jose, the author of the book, wished to share it with our Fraternity Brothers due to the prevalence of Alpha Chi Rho in the book and in the lives of "Newk" and Evelyn. This is a story told by Evelyn to Carol before she succumbed to breast cancer in 2005. It reminds us that our Fraternal bond never ends, that we are indebted to "Newk" and other military personnel who serve their country with distinction, but more importantly, it is the story of a woman who would make sure that her husband's efforts and memory would not be forgotten. It is a heroic story about one of our own!
